Here’s Dwayne Wade’s original comment:
“Of course, there’s going to be times when we might lose one or two games, three games in a row. It’s going to seem like the world is crashed down. You are all going to make it seem like the World Trade has just went down again. But it’s not going to be nothing but a couple of basketball games lost and we’ll have to go back on track”.
Yes I agree, this is just a little bit out of line, and there is a chance someone might misunderstand this, as the quote appeared on a website as:
“If we lose a couple in a row this season, it will be like the World Trade is coming down again”.
Now, the brain is sometimes not as fast as your mouth, and mentioning the World Trade in this context was not such a great idea, but it wasn’t certainly meant that way is was quoted. Misquoting it such in a way that the opposite of what’s being said comes out is a little bit gross. (the website later corrected the quote).
If anything, I have one issue here : Don’t lose 3 games in a row. If you do that, the media will be on to you, probably talking about a nightmare team instead of a dream team.
For your own sake, don’t do this. I know the regular season is 82 games, but you will be compared against the best records Miami ever had (61-21 in ’97).
